Women don’t want to feel as though they’ve lost control of their body – especially when it affects parts of their life.
ThermiVa is a quick, non-invasive, non-ablative treatment delivering physician controlled radiofrequency energy using a thoughtfully designed hand piece to gently heat tissue.
The Importance of Collagen
Collagen is a protein that makes your skin firm and elastic. The natural aging process can diminish collagen. When the skin has less collagen, it can lose it’s youthful appearance.
By using radiofrequency energy, skin is heated to stimulate and re-build your body’s own collagen, naturally. Treaments using radiofrequency technology are widely used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine.
With aging and childbirth, the muscles to the vagina can stretch and loosen resulting in decreased sensation during intercourse or difficulty achieving sexual arousal and/or orgasms. ThermiVa is an in office procedure for vaginal rejuvenation that uses radiofrequency to tighten the inside of the vagina as well as the opening of the vagina by stimulating collagen production. This results in not only a tighter vagina but it has also helped treat urinary leakage and improved vaginal lubrication for our patients.
ThermiVa uses a radio frequency (RF) to control the temperature of the targeted thermal energy to the tissue of the labia or vagina. The procedure feels like a hot stone massage. Results include:
- Tightening the vaginal canal internally and at the opening of the vagina
- Tightening loose, stretched outer lips of the vagina (labia majora)
- Improving urinary control and treating mild urinary leakage
- Increasing vaginal moisture and lubrication
- Decreasing discomfort during intercourse
- Enhancing sensitivity and sexual arousal/orgasm
Results may vary but have been shown to last 1 to 1.5 yrs with maintenance touch-up visits thereafter, as needed.
Results can be immediate in some patients or they may become noticeable within the first 3 months after the procedure. Results typically last up to 12-18 months, but yearly touch-up treatments can be scheduled to maintain the patient’s results.
In addition to vaginal tightening, vaginal rejuvenation treatments can help with urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, sexual dysfunction, and the symptoms caused by perimenopause.
For women who just completed childbirth, we recommend that one should wait at least 2 – 3 months after they have given birth to start ThermiVa.
The wand that is applied to the treated areas includes a built-in thermometer that transmits the temperature to the computer, which will adjust as needed to prevent burns. There have been no significant side effects or problems reported from RF vaginal rejuvenation.
